Validate Windows Media Player – Without Having To!

I just installed XP onto my laptop and so now that I have my dual-boot set up, I wanted to upgrade me Windows Media Player installation. The problem is, when I finally installed it, the Genuine Activator thing wouldn’t work. So I peeked into the Program Files/Windows Media Player folder, and saw a .DLL called LegitLibM.dll (clearly a Genuine Advantage DLL), so I deleted it, and then ran Windows Media Player again. This time, the whole thing worked, and when I clicked on “Validate” (I think that was what it said), it said that there was a problem with the Validation, and then because of that, I think it bypassed the whole thing! This is a very useful trick for people who have trouble with the stupid WGA. I really hope Microsoft goes the Linux path soon :p !

    I want to translate the solution in romanian: Pentru instalasrea Windows Media Player sarind peste validarea aia de rahat cu Genuine si bla bla intra in My computer in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player si strege porcheria de file cu numele de LegitLibM.dll care nu face altceva decat sa nu iti permita sa instalezi Windows Media Player. Dupa ce l-ai sters da drumul la instalare si da Click pe VALIDATE cand te inreaba iar de validare. O sa iti spuna ca nu ai Windows valid dar o ti-l instaleze totusi. Vizionare placuta!

    I was looking for how to run WMP without da validation...a guy called connor left a comment with your link in another site by saying this method is much easier and smart.....thanks to him and thanks a lot to you....i think Microsoft hang em up their selfs rather than choosing Linux..lol..

    Very nice! I've been looking for a way to get past this stupid thing all day. 7 hours later after going over another set of "easy" steps, I find this. I hope nothing important was deleted, but this seems to of worked beautifully! Thanks alot.


    PS Anybody not figuring out why it goes to the validate screen again, just click validate, then finish and it will continue with normal installation.

    nice and simple, this worked like a charm. I was unable to watch Netflix Watch it Now until I got Windoze MP11 installed. Now that works too! thanks
